Barry Green, Head Coach

Barry Green is in his 10th season as the head women’s basketball at AVC. He currently has a record of 113-100 and has had 5 of his teams make playoffs.

In 2017 AVC was WSC-East Conference Champions and Coach Green was voted WSC-East Coach of the Year by his coaching peers.

He enters his 30th season as Marauder coach, his 12th with the women’s basketball squad and was the men’s assistant coach for 18 years.

Green came to AVC from CSU Bakersfield, where he was a graduate assistant coach for the basketball team.

A graduate of Merced High School, Green was the team’s most valuable player as well as the Central California Conference’s MVP.  He also played football and baseball for the Bears.

Green played at Columbia College in Sonora for one year, winning Central Valley Conference honorable mention honors.

He then moved to Eastern Montana, where he played for three years and received his bachelor’s in physical education.  He was named the team’s most valuable player in his senior year and was a first-team All-Great Northwest Conference selection.  He was a second-team selection in his sophomore and junior seasons.  He received his master’s degree in physical education from Azusa Pacific.

In 2000, he became a permanent member of the AVC faculty, was granted tenure and was named the Marauder Women’s Tennis team head coach.

Green spent one season as head coach of the boys’ team at Trona High School, coming away with a 17-6 record.

Green and his wife, Julie, reside in Lancaster with their daughter, Bailey who played two years for the Marauders, and son, Julian.

Entering her 2nd year as an assistant coach for AVC

  • Professional Australia Big V for Western Port Club.  Big V Club Champions '17, Won Big V scoring title averaging 22.5 pts per game & Big V All Five player of the year. Currently playing this summer in Australia.
  • Assistant Coach at Texas A&M International Univ. 2014-16
  • Texas A&M International named 1st player in school history DII All-American, Heartland Conf. Newcomer of the year & First Team Heartland Conf. player.
  • AVC Foothill 1st Team All-Conf., Team MVP and Selected to 4 All-Tournament teams.
Carrie Miller, Assistant Coach

Entering her 4th year as  Assistant Coach for AVC

Carrie was the head coach for sixth seasons at Glendale College.  At Glendale College she was instrumental at improving young women fundamentals, building well-rounded players looking to enter a four-year program, and most importantly, to be prepared student-athletes and contributors to each community they enter.  Academics remain on the top of her coaching philosophy.

Born in Lancaster, CA and raised in Little Rock, CA, Carrie attended Littlerock High School, Los Angeles Valley College, and Adams State College.  She earned her B.A. in Exercise Physiology & Leisure Science and M.A. in Health, Physical Education.

Carrie teaches the game much like she played it as a two-year starter and all-conference player at LA Valley College and then found the same success at Adams State College.  She teaches what she preaches and earned all-academic team honors all four years that she played.  Carrie was a former assistant coach collegiately at Adams State College in Colorado (2002-03), Antelope Valley College (2003-06; 2009-10), head coach at Rosamond High School (2005-06) and an assistant at Santa Barbara City College (2006-08) before taking over the helm at Glendale. 

Her other passion besides basketball is spending time with her daughters, Jaylyn (11) and Jania (6), who are fixtures at games.
